But millions of people defines greed as “an overwhelming desire to have more of something such as money than is actually needed.” Greed, or avarice, is an inordinate or insatiable longing for unneeded excess, especially for excess wealth, status, power, or food, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs. Greed is described as “a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction.” It is typically used to criticize those who seek excessive material wealth, although it may apply to the need to feel more excessively moral, social, or otherwise better than someone else. Greed is desire gone out of control. Greed is wanting to possess more than one needs or deserves.

Reduce the complexity of life by eliminating the needless wants of life, and the labours of life reduce themselves. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning. If you devote yourself to others in your spare time instead of running after the meaningless things you will get happiness and peace of mind.
The future of civilization depends on our overcoming the meaninglessness that characterises the thoughts of men today. So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they’re busy doing things they think are important. This is because most of the time they’re chasing the wrong things for fulfilling their unnecessary desires,
Greed has poisoned men’s souls; has provoked the world with aversion. We have developed speed but we have locked ourselves in. Our knowledge as made us rude; our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than the technology we need mortality. More than cleverness, we need kindness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost
(Peace of mind, health and true happiness).
People free from greed are peaceful and generous. For such people sorrow and joy, ups and downs of life are merely two sides of the coin. Such people never worry.
