PALMISTRY

The thumb is certainly one of the most important indicators on the hand. We have to look  the thumb’s tip is square, rounded or pointed, thus indicating a bias toward a practical, artistic or idealistic nature. Stiff thumb –  as the name suggests, is fairly rigid and inflexible, so the tip will not bend backward to any noticeable degree,  indicates that the person is stubborn, has fixed ideas, does not easily adapt to changing circumstances, derives more satisfaction from saving money than from spending it and does not tend to be naturally generous. Flexible thumb is found when the nail phalange bends back without resistance. It indicates a generous-natured person who enjoys giving or spending and is versatile, adaptable, restless, changeable, tolerant, flexible, interested in many things and willing to listen to new ideas. Large thumb  indicates self-reliance, confidence and capability, inner power. It belongs to a person who can be a leader, a doer. A large thumb adds its strength to other factors in the hand. Small thumb indicates a weak character – one who will follow rather than lead. There is little determination or will to win. Medium thumb is the average, neither large nor small, so it endows its owner with the potential to achieve an average degree of success. You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their thumb and fingers.

The thumb has three phalanges. The first phalange of the thumb  relates to willpower and determination. A club shaped thumb indicates a criminal tendency. Pointed or long tips indicate creativity and intelligence. The middle phalange represents logic. The longer the phalange, the more efficient and strategic the person.the second phalange relates to logic and reason.  In average hands the second phalange is slightly longer than the nail phalange, indicating a normal balance of willpower and reason, found in people who formulate plans and then have the determination to carry them through to a successful conclusion. However, if the second phalange is noticeably longer than the nail phalange, the person thinks about all the things and plans which he intends to put into action, but does not have sufficient drive, determination and willpower translate those ideas into practical reality.  When the nail phalange is longer than the second phalange, the person’s reason is overshadowed by willpower, so he or she is the type who acts first and thinks afterwards. They are determined and willful to act in any situation.

The fleshy part at the base of the thumb is called the Mount of Venus, which represents  emotion, grace and compassion. The fatter and fleshier this part of the hand is, the more sensitive and compassionate the individual.

FINGER TIPS — According to type of fingertips either square, rounded or pointed or even a mixture of these, we can know about some characteristic of persons. If finger tips are Square tips signify a practical, realistic, rather down-to-earth person who likes method   and   order, if finger tips are Pointed   tips   are   fairly   rare  but they are preferring   to   live   in   a   world   of fantasy, imagination, idealism and dreams. They usually possess poetic, musical or artistic abilities but, as they lack drive and practical application, they seldom utilize their capabilities. If finger tips are Rounded   tips  give   a   nice   balance   between   the   square-tipped   realist   and   the pointed-tipped   dreamer.

FINGERS – Some of the people   have   length of fingers either very short or very long when compared with the size of the palm. People with Short fingers they think and act quickly and cannot be bothered with lots of small, fussy details. Slow, careful analysis bores them; instead, they like to go straight to the point. People with Long fingers belong to people who think, Move and act very slowly.   They   are   careful,   attentive   to   small details   and   seldom  will do   anything without    thinking  of  all  the   pros   and   cons;   consequently, way long-fingered people give slow, detailed, drawn-out accounts of everything they discuss. People with Smooth fingers  are on people who are guided their feelings. They are quick to think and act and their motivations are based on intuition or inspiration rather than on  reason, logic and rational analysis. They appreciate all that is beautiful. People with Knotted fingers belong to people  like to analyze and thoroughly investigate all the facts. They reason things out rather than act on feelings or sentiment.

PHALANGES The phalanges on the eight fingers are divided into three groups.  1- physical plane, 2- emotional plane, 3-mental plane.  In   most   cases,   as  you  look  at  each   finger,  the  length  and   thickness   of  the  three  phalanges   will   be about   the   same,   indicating   a normal balance between the   physical,  emotional and mental facets of a person’s makeup,

The index finger correlates to the planet Jupiter and indicates good fortune and career. The middle finger is related to Saturn and limitations and restrictions in life. The ring finger is called the Apollo. It relates to self-expression and intelligence. The pinky finger belongs to the planet Mercury, which is about your ability to communicate with others and sustain relationships. The longer and straighter the finger, the more good fortune a person can expect to have in these areas. All these fingers have their own mounts, which are located on the palm right below each one. The more developed or pronounced these fleshy mounds are beneath the finger, the more developed that trait is in a person.

The Mount of Jupiter below the index fingers represents awakening of the conscious mind. In India, it is referred to as the guru or dispelling of darkness. It speaks of our sense of purpose—what role we want to play in life. Jupiter stands for ambition, leadership, religion, honor,confidence, leadership and justice.

The Mount of Saturn below the middle finger represents sanity, sobriety, wisdom, introversion and karmic events such as good or bad luck. Saturn stands for wisdom, co-ordination and discernment.

The Mount of Apollo below the ring represents confidence, creativity, impulsiveness and extroversion. it also indicates our desire to share all that has been learned from the profound nature of Saturn. It is referred to our soul. The Sun shows that aspect within us which can transcend any limitations. Success, charisma and integrity are all characteristic of the Sun.

The Mount of Mercury below your little finger has to do with ability to sell yourself, communication, quickness, connection as well as writing and mathematical abilities. Sometimes the Mount of Mercury will be feathered with short vertical lines that are called Lines of Affection. These sometimes indicate the number of deep emotional connections or significant relationships in a person’s life.

Mars – Next lies the mount of Mars positive . Whereas Mars negative relates to our physical energy, Mars positive deals with our mental strength. Positive characteristics include endurance, persistence, and a calm mental state.Right below the Mount of Mercury (below the little finger there are two more mounts. About half way down is the Mount of Upper Mars, which reflects your temperament: if this mound is fleshy then the person tends to be more courageous or war-like. Below that, near the base of the hand is the Mount of Luna (also known as the Mount of the Moon). This mound reflects such qualities as generosity, warmth and imagination. If it is over pronounced it can indicate a tendency to madness.

Below the Mount of Jupiter (follow the index finger downwards) lies the Lower Mars, which deals with aggression, hostility and capacity for evil. The center of the palm is called the Plane of Mars. If the plane has a dip in it you are calm, cool and collected. If it is raised or flat you are more likely to display a bad temper.

Rahu and Ketu –  mount of ketu is considered at the start of line of fate between the mount of moon and venus. Ketu represents the kinds of circumstances we attracted in the past and our attitudes towards them, mount of Rahu is considered above the line of head and below the line of heart, whereas Rahu relates to our immediate environment. A famous Sanskrit verse tells us that “our present is the result of all our yesterdays, and the future depends on how well we live today.” This sums up the relationship between Rahu and Ketu.

The Heart Line cuts laterally across the upper palm between the mounts of Jupiter and Mercury. loops, cuts and breaks in this line indicate relationships and episodes occurring in a person’s love life. In some traditions, the line is read as starting from the edge of the palm under the little finger and flowing across the palm towards the thumb; in others, it is seen as starting under the fingers and flowing toward the outside edge of the palm. Palmists interpret this line to represent matters of the heart, both physical and metaphorical, and believe it can indicate emotional stability, romantic perspectives, depression, and stoicism, in addition to various aspects of cardiac health.

The Head Line is normally positioned and can cut across the palm or curve downward. It is an indicator of intelligence and mental health. An optimum Head line runs straight, is deep and has a long extension almost to the other side of the palm. This more the headline curves downward towards the list, the less control the individual may have over his or her emotions. Often, the head line is joined with the life line (see below) at inception. Palmists generally interpret this line to represent the person’s mind and the way it works, including learning style, communication style, intellectualism, and thirst for knowledge. It is also believed to indicate a preference for creative or analytical approaches to information

The Life Line usually circles the thumb and begins under the mount of Jupiter and travels in an arc towards the wrist. It encircles the Mount of Lower Mars and Venus and in most cases ends at the base of the hand. This line indicates major life events as well as the health of the subject. The longer this line is, the longer the individual will live. This line is believed to represent the person’s vitality and vigor, physical health and general well being. The life line is also believed to reflect major life changes, including cataclysmic events, physical injuries, and relocation’s.

The fourth main lie on the palm is called the Line of Fate (also known as the Line of Faith. This line runs vertically from the middle of the base of the palm and up towards the middle finger. It is an indicator of material and financial strength. The deeper, stronger and less broken the line, the more likely the person is likely to be successful. It also indicates a serious, business like nature.

The line of Apollo is a vertical line that is found on the upper part of the Mount of the Moon. It has been called the line of the Sun, and the line of Brilliancy, and to it has been ascribed the gift of great artistic talents, wealth and fame. Not every hand possesses this line.

The line of Mercury denotes intuition, spontaneity and the ability to communicate effortlessly. The line of Mercury has been variously called the line of Health or the line of Liver. It is found either on Mount of Mercury or the Plain of Mars. If there is no line you are probably blessed with excellent health. Strong markings in this area indicate troubles with health.

The minor lines

The minor lines that have a direct influence on our lives and relationships will be discussed.  The minor lines can be found in most hands. They include the lines of opposition, intuition, travel  and influence lines.

Lines of opposition. These lines can be found on the outside of the palm, between the heart and head lines. These lines illustrate the opposing forces that we all must deal with in life.

Line of intuition. This line appears on the at the base of the hand under the little finger to the mount of the moon. It shows strong intuition. If you have this line you are an extremely sensitive, intuitive person and may faculty of clairvoyance.

Lines of influence. These lines initiate from the base of the thumb, and radiate out into the palm. Where they unite with other lines, they show an important event.

Mercury line or health line

The formation of a strong Mercury line in the hand indicates that an effortless ability to communicate with others has been developed. When the Mercury line is broken, it denotes ill-health. If broken into distinct pieces, it denotes severe illness related to the digestive system. If a such health problem is not resolved, a variety of health problems can arise of emotional, mental, or of physical nature.

1-If the line is missing, it indicates no health problems.

2-If the line is strong and undisturbed, then you tend to have a strong business sense as well as the strength to work hard to make money.

3-Wavy lines show potential health problems as a result of anxiety and nervousness.

4-A broken line, tends to show that poor health will create problems in your business situations.

5-If the line is crossed, then you tend to be prone to accidents.

6-The triangle formed by the Life, Head and Health Lines are considered very important. This is known as The Lucky Triangle, where the broader the area of the triangle, the greater your luck.

Bracelets.

Bracelets are also called rascettes. They are merely signs of health. If broken may indicate ill health. People may have bracelets from one to three in number. Peoples who live to moderate age usually have one bracelet and if one has more than two or three bracelets it may indicate a very long and prosperous life.

There are many Minor Lines that don’t appear on every hand, but one of the best known is the Girdle of Venus that starts between the Mounts of Jupiter and Saturn and ends around the little finger. This line looks like a loop circling three of your four fingers and its presence is supposed to indicate beauty and luck in romance. The hand is filled with all kinds of markings, lines, feathers, stars, and crosses –each with particular meanings.

Fingernails

The most interesting aspect to the nails is the way they show the current state of health of a subject. A sudden shock, an emotional upset can be easily dated as fingernails take about six to eight months to grow out. Round nails indicate friendly type of person. Small nails indicate a quick minded and tensed person. Large nails may be a slower type of person. Curved nails suggest a need for security. Narrow nails indicate tensed type of person. Fan shaped nails indicate ambition.

HANDS

A common question that is asked of us is which palm should you read? Actually, you should read both. The concept is that the left hand shows your inherited potential, while the right hand shows what you’ve acquired  with that potential. Some palmists read dominant hand, i.e. for right handed people right hand should be read and for left handed people the left hand should be read.

There are four major types of hands, which relate to the elements.

Earth hands-

Earth hands are square palms with square finger tips, thick or rough skin, and red in appearance. The length of the palm has been usually equal to the length of the fingers.  A square palm with few and clear lines. Earth Hands are down-to-earth, practical and level headed, but can also be materialistic, serious and stubborn They can be quite traditional, and prefer to be outdoors. You cannot call such persons quarrelsome, as they can be very stubborn in their views

Air Hands-

Air types are very logical, always curious and full of ideas. A palm with many and clear lines. Air Hands are friendly, talkative and clever, may be mean and cold. They practically drone with nervous energy, and can be prone to anxiety and tension. People with Air hands are great conversationalists, but they can take their feelings too much.

Fire Hands-

Fire hands have a square palm, red or pink skin, and shorter fingers. The length of the palm has been usually greater than the length of the fingers. With few and fines lines. Fire hand types are optimistic, energetic and spontaneous. They need variety, and can be a little egoistic, impatient and narrow-minded? People with Fire hands are often fiercely individual, and make great leaders. They are extroverts, and prefer to do things bravely and instinctively.

Water Hands-

Water hands are based on a short, sometimes elongated palm, with long, flexible fingers. Their palm is usually wider than it is long, with fingers equal to the height of the palm. With many and fine lines. They  are creative, perceptive and sympathetic, but can be moody, very emotional and reserved. They are introverts and tend to do things silently and intuitively. They are always looking for peace, and are very artistic.

Some people’s hands are full of lines while others have nothing more than main basic lines. Empty hands belong to simple folk whose lives are straightforward. They can also denote a fairly happy person. Very few fine lines in the palms show a quiet and cautious person. He is normally a reasonable talker and to the point in his words. He may not have a wide circle of friends.  Some people have much, much more lines than main basic lines, they are very careful. They focus on their own feelings and may analyze themselves and their lives too deeply. Insecurity and outside events will leave their mark on the hands. People with many fine lines shows a refined and sensitive nature, a friendly and gentle approach to others, and a generally weaker constitution. With many broken line markings, one can become tensed  with a life filled with many heartbreaks of one sort or another. You will likely follow many mental interests.
