The darker the night, the brighter the stars,
The deeper the grief, the closer is God!
Every being in the world would like to be always happy and free from sorrow and bodily ailments. Suffering is an inevitable part of the pleasure, Sufferings and sorrows form a part of life. In day to day life, there is no one who has not undergone either physical or mental-emotional agony. We try to avoid such situation but it is not possible to avoid. More than physical ailments, mental suffering brings about misery. Mental disintegration affects the body much more and is dangerous. It creates disharmony with the surroundings of such a person. He tries to avoid his sorrows by indulging in unhealthy ways. Man instead of analyzing scientifically to understand the nature and behaviour of the outer world of objects and the inner experiences in us and the potential of life is simply avoiding the actual facts of life.
The main causes for man’s sorrow are his delusion that he is the body and the divinity is different from him. Due to ignorance, he forgets that the mind is the cause of his bondage. He is not able to restrain the mind and suffers as a consequence.
“Suffering is unbearable if you aren’t certain that God is for you and with you.”
Suffering is great revealer and an opportunity to man to become humble, compassionate, loving and to drop his ego sense. One has to understand consciously every situation and circumstance in which we suffer. There is a general tendency to pray God for removal of suffering, pain. It is not proper for anyone to wish for the end of life. We have to pray to the Lord to give us enough strength, power of endurance and patience to withstand them. The external conditions of life are not responsible always for our happiness, unhappiness or misery. It is mainly a state of our mind. By constant contemplation of God, we can mitigate our pain and suffering.
Be in constant awareness of the self, don’t confuse the suffering of the body with the self, By positive auto-suggestion that you are not the body, mind but a pure transcendental witnessing consciousness you can endure the suffering.
Be a source of solace and strength to all those in their time of suffering and diseases. Going through suffering, you turn to God and understand the Divine. Suffering can be due to past karmas and by prayer, good deeds one can soften the suffering. Suffering can be due to the tests of God-loss of property, wealth, diseases, separation from the beloved ones. Your happiness is shallow. It depends on somebody, something. Sadness is more realistic, it is you’re not dependent on anybody. Sadness is silent, it can give you a great insight, can help you more than your happiness. It gives you a chance to go deeper into your aloneness, it is a better means of meditation. Alone you are born, alone you die. If you are silent, meditative relaxed then suddenly there is something like a collective soul-brings solace to you.
The whole world is suffering from the feeling “I and mine”. Get rid of ego through self-inquiry, through self-surrender.
“There is always a light within us that is free from all sorrow and grief, no matter how much we may be experiencing suffering.”
“The size of your problems is nothing compared with your ability to solve them. Don’t overestimate your problems and underestimate yourself.”
“In this world, we find that all happiness is followed by misery as its shadow. Life has its shadow, death. They must go together, because they are not contradictory, not two separate existences, but different manifestations of the same unit, life and death, sorrow and happiness, good and evil.”
